Chicken Shish Tawook Recipe


I made this chicken shish tawook recipe last week as a quick easy dinner and it turned out amazing. It was so flavorful and satisfying.  I always look forward to the grilled veggies with the yellow rice. If you know you’re going to make this dish, you can go ahead and marinate the chicken in the morning. However, I had it marinating for only 2 hours and it still turned out great.


I started by marinating the chicken with yogurt, tomato sauce (you can also use tomato paste), lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper. I just covered it, put it in the fridge, and forgot about it.004

Next, I cut up whatever veggies I had on hand. I used onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers all cut into large quarters. I tossed them with some salt, pepper, and olive oil.



I made yellow basmati rice. I crushed saffron with some sugar then mixed it with some warm water. I added it to the rice while the water was boiling.


Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without garlic sauce. Just garlic, egg whites in a blender, and gradually add the vegetable oil until it becomes gelatinous.




It was raining out, so I used a griddle instead of a grill to cook the chicken and vegetables. I have to say, I was impressed with the way it turned out.
